Support Groups

When you are battling cancer, it’s often helpful to speak with someone who’s gone through the same situation. That’s why Crozer-Chester Medical Center offers a variety of cancer support groups for those who are fighting cancer or helping a loved one through a difficult diagnosis.

Facing the Challenge

This workshop provides patients and family members with up-to-date information about breast cancer and its treatments. Topics include reconstructive surgery, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, genetics, nutrition and fatigue management. Offered in the spring and fall. For more information or to register, call 610-447-2629.

Family and Friends

This support group is designed for the relatives, caregivers and friends of those with a diagnosis of cancer. Participants are invited to share their feelings and experiences in a close, friendly setting. The group meets monthly at Springfield Hospital. For more information or to register, call 610-284-8112.

Look Good, Feel Better

Women with a diagnosis of cancer often experience changes in body image brought on by cancer treatments. This support group explains methods of maintaining your appearance during treatment, including help with selecting breast forms, wigs, scarves and skin care/beauty products. The group meets six times per year. Our specialist is also available for private consultation. For more information or to register, call 610-447-2643.

Man to Man (Prostate Cancer Support Group)

This group is open to any man who has been diagnosed with prostate cancer. This group includes both an educational component and an opportunity to discuss issues of interest with the other group members. Patterned after the national guidelines for “Man to Man,” this group is coordinated by a male oncology nurse and held monthly at Springfield Hospital. For more information or to register, call 610-284-8487.

Prevention and Risk of Cancer Assessment (PARCA) Program

Understanding your risk for cancer is the first step towards preventing it. PARCA was developed by the Crozer-Keystone Health System to answer your questions and provide you with an individualized program to help prevent cancer. For more information, call 610-447-2678.

Woman to Woman (Gynecologic Cancers Support Group)

Women affected by a gynecologic cancer face physically and emotionally demanding situations and require a great deal of support. Held monthly at the cancer center, “Woman to Woman” is open to women with any kind of gynecological cancer and their loved ones. For more information or to register, call 610-447-2762.
