As part of the Fox Chase Crozer-Keystone Cancer Partnership, Delaware County Memorial Hospital has developed an active Cancer Research Program, which has grown steadily over time. Research endeavors include clinical trials dealing with the prevention as well as the treatment of cancer. Clinical trials are state-of-the-art research studies using medicines, radiation therapy, surgery and/or other treatments. There are many kinds of trials, ranging from ways to prevent and treat cancer to studying the psychological impact of having cancer.
In addition to participating in clinical trials generated by Fox Chase Cancer Center for the Network Hospitals, the Delaware County Regional Cancer Center participates in studies coordinated by several national cancer research groups including the Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group and the Radiation Therapy Oncology Group. The consistent increase in oncology research activities reflects this hospital's commitment to delivering state-of-the-art care to our community today and defining the standards of care for tomorrow.
