About half of all the people who develop cancer receive radiation therapy at some time during their illness. Radiation therapy may be used alone, or in combination with surgery and/or chemotherapy to treat different types of cancer. It involves the use of high-energy ionizing radiation in the form of X-rays, electron beams or a combination of each. The exact type of radiation used is determined by the cancer’s location, type, stage and treatment parameters. Treatment recommendations are based on results of scientific research and extensive reviews of previous treatments.
Our radiation oncologists and staff offer state-of-the-art treatment, including three-dimensional treatment planning using computerized tomography (CT), 3-D conformal radiation therapy including Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT), high- or low-dose-rate brachytherapy. and CyberKnife robotic radiosurgery.
