The key to good health that lasts a lifetime begins even before your baby is born. We offer tours of The Maternity Center, as well as a variety of maternal/child health education classes to help families prepare for the birth and care of an infant. Offerings vary by site - either at Crozer-Chester Medical Center or Delaware County Memorial Hospital - and classes include information on:
- Pregnancy
- Maternity exercise before and after birth
- Prepared childbirth, including non-medicated methods of promoting comfort, as well as medications, anesthesia and other medical procedures
- Infant/child first aid, CPR and safety
- Nurturing your newborn – baby care and parenting information for prospective parents and adoptive parents
- Breastfeeding preparation prior to delivery
- Sibling preparation – age 3 years and up
- Childbirth refresher courses – for those with other children who want to review information regarding labor and birth
- Cesarean preparation class
- Vaginal birth after cesarean birth (VBAC)
- Our New Parent Network gives you the chance to get out of the house with your new baby and interact with other new parents. This four-week program focuses on caring, sharing and networking with other new parents while learning parenting techniques, how to deal with well-meaning family and friends, infant play and massage techniques, resuming sexual relations, nutrition and shape-up exercises with your baby.
