SPRINGFIELD – Crozer-Keystone Health System and the Center for Diabetes at Springfield Hospital will recognize American Diabetes Month with a free, comprehensive community education event. The second annual “Healthy Living with Diabetes” event will be held at the Drexelbrook Corporate Events Center, Drexelbrook Drive and Valley Road in Drexel Hill, on Nov. 5 from 9 a.m. to noon.
The event is a must for those who have diabetes, those who know a loved one with diabetes, or those who just want to learn more about the disease. The event will include:
-
A health fair that will feature free health screenings and information about diabetes risk factors provided by Crozer-Keystone departments and national vendors.
-
Presentations about important diabetes-related topics, including nutrition, the latest treatment options and more – by Crozer-Keystone and national efforts. Presenters will include Ruth Ann Fitzpatrick, M.D., chief of Endocrinology at Crozer-Chester Medical Center and medical director of the Center for Diabetes; Christine Hurley, R.D., a nutritionist and certified diabetes educator; and Robert Marvin, M.D., a cardiologist at Delaware County Memorial Hospital.
Parking is free, and refreshments will be served.
The Center for Diabetes provides outpatient education for individuals with new onset or uncontrolled diabetes, or for those who desire intensive control. The focus of the center is to help you achieve blood glucose control by balancing meals, exercise and medication, when necessary.
