The Healthplex Sports Club Introduces the
'Young and Fit' Program

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
December 2006

SPRINGFIELDCurrently in the United States, one out of every four children is faced with an obesity problem. With that in mind, the HealthplexÒ Sports Club, in collaboration with Crozer-Keystone Health System medical, nutritional and behavioral professionals, will introduce the Young and Fit Program. This comprehensive, family-oriented program is designed to facilitate weight loss in obese children while providing the entire family with an educational foundation on weight-loss, nutrition and exercise. The program caters exclusively to overweight and obese children ages 7 to 10.

Over the course of 12 weeks, children will meet three times per week in a small classroom environment with a child-instructor ratio of six to one. Two sessions will include a 60-minute fitness activity and a 30-minute educational section. The other session will include a 60-minute family education class that parents must attend, followed by a 30-minute fitness activity for the children. In addition, each family will have a private session once-a-month with the club dietitian.

Family support is a vital component to this program, and while parents must attend the weekly 60-minute family education class, parents are encouraged to attend all of the educational sessions with their children.

In addition to taking part in the program with their children, parents who do not already belong to the HealthplexÒ are invited to workout in the club during the weekly sessions. The entire family is invited to enjoy the benefits of the HealthplexÒ on the weekends.

The cost of this program is $699 for members for one child and $649 for an  additional child. For non-members, the cost of the program is $799 for the first child and $749 for an additional child. A payment plan is available, which entails a down payment of half of the cost, with the remaining balance paid over two additional installments.

Contact the Wellness Department today at 610-328-8873 for more information and to schedule an initial program consultation for your child. More information is also available on-line at www.healthplex.net.
