Ridley Park, Pa. – Throughout the year, the Crozer-Keystone Center for Diabetes offers diabetes support group meetings and free lectures by Crozer-Keystone clinicians. On Wednesday, March 22, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., guest speaker Douglas Farrell, D.P.M., chief of the Section of Podiatry at Taylor Hospital, will present a lecture, “Foot Care for the Person With Diabetes.” The diabetes support group will immediately follow the program, from 7:30-8:30 p.m. The lecture and support group will be held in Classrooms A & B at Taylor Hospital. The Center for Diabetes is located at Springfield Hospital in Springfield, Pa. The center provides outpatient education for individuals with new onset or uncontrolled Diabetes Mellitus, or for those who desire intensive control. The goal of intensive management is to achieve near-normal glucose levels. Special instruction is available for the individual with Gestational Diabetes.
The focus of the center is to help patients achieve blood glucose control by balancing meals, exercise and medication, when necessary.
