RIDLEY PARK, Pa. – Emily Bernstein, M.D., a psychiatrist for Crozer-Keystone Health System, recently educated dozens of local residents about Seasonal Affective Disorder, a condition that causes symptoms similar to those of clinical depression, during a special lecture at Taylor Hospital.
Dr. Bernstein discussed the symptoms of SAD, which occur between the months of October and May, when days are shorter and less sunlight is available. She also educated attendees about treatment options available for the condition, which range from medication to “light therapy.”
Crozer-Keystone physicians and clinicians will speak at Taylor Hospital on a variety of topics – ranging from sleep disorders to orthopedic procedures to stroke prevention – throughout 2006. For more information on upcoming presentations, call 1-800-CK-HEALTH (1-800-254-3258).
