Crozer-Keystone Health System’s Office of Medical Education held its first Resident Research Day on May 24 to recognize Crozer-Chester Medical Center and Delaware Memorial County Hospital residents’ achievements in scholarly activity or clinical research.
Residents presenting at the program gained experience preparing, organizing and disseminating research results in preparation for presenting at a regional or national scientific meeting.
A total of 36 residents, mostly working in teams, displayed 16 research presentations to faculty members, peers and employees, which fostered the exchange of scientific information on advances in diagnosis and medical management of their patients. A collaborative competition among residents for best research presentation was held. Qualified judges in research reviewed each of the presentations and identified recipients of the Excellence in Medical Research Award.
Sirish Sanaka, M.D., Lalkrushna Malaviya, M.D., Amanda Fehring, M.D. and Vijaya Chada, M.D., residents from the Internal Medicine Residency Program, were presented with the Excellence in Medical Research Award by the judges for their research project: “DVT Prophylaxis-Appropriate Use in Hospital Patients (A Retrospective Analysis).”
