UPLAND, Pa. – Local residents learned how the flu originates, how it’s transmitted and how to prevent it during a special Dining at Dusk presentation entitled “Beat the Bug: How Seniors Can Stay Healthy During Flu Season,” on Thursday, Sept. 14 at the Crozer-Chester Medical Center Cafeteria.
During the presentation, William Zirker, M.D., MPH, chief of the Division of Geriatrics at Crozer-Chester Medical Center, explained why seniors are particularly susceptible to the flu bug and what steps they can take to prevent contracting it. He also stressed the importance of an annual flu shot for people over the age of 65.
Dr. Zirker’s lecture was one in a series of “Dining at Dusk” presentations, which take place on a regular basis at the hospitals of the Crozer-Keystone Health System.
