UPLAND – The Center for Diabetes at Springfield Hospital will hold a free information session and support group on Dec. 5 in the James E. Clark Center Auditorium at Crozer-Chester Medical Center, One Medical Center Boulevard, Upland. Lynn Diven, R.D., LD, CDE, the center’s clinical nutrition specialist, will lead the information session about “holiday meal tips” at 6:30 p.m. The support group will follow from 7:30 to 8:15 p.m.
The Center for Diabetes at Springfield Hospital is an American Diabetes Association-recognized, hospital-based, outpatient diabetes program. The center provides outpatient education for individuals with new onset or uncontrolled diabetes, or for those who desire intensive control.
Over 20 million people in the United States have diabetes, but approximately one-third don’t know they have it because of minimal symptoms or none at all. This serious disease kills 224,000 Americans a year.
