Ridley Park— Eric Heffelfinger, D.O., was elected to a two-year term as president of Taylor Hospital’s Medical and Dental Staff effective July 1, 2007.
Heffelfinger is a 15-year member of Taylor’s medical staff who specializes in pulmonary/critical care medicine. He also serves as chairman of Taylor’s Medical Executive Committee and Nutrition Committee. In addition, Heffelfinger serves as medical advisor to the Palliative Care Committee and is a member of various other Taylor committees, such as Critical Care, Tissue, Ethics, and Infection Control.
“The positions of medical/dental staff officers exist to provide working contacts between administration, hospital staff and the professional staff,” Heffelfinger says. “Given the current uncertain atmosphere of health care, particularly in the Delaware Valley, it is more important than ever for these three groups to partner fully to provide safe, effective medical care.”
“Eric Heffelfinger is a valued and trusted member of Taylor Hospital’s medical and dental staff,” says Diane Miller, president of Taylor Hospital. “He is a caring physician with a busy practice, yet volunteers his time as a member of several hospital committees. His participation and counsel on critical health care issues is invaluable to his peers, our staff and, ultimately, our patients. I am confident that he will serve all his constituents well in his position as President.”
Dennis W. Cronin, M.D., immediate past president of the Taylor Medical and Dental Staff, agrees. “Eric is a true model of advocacy for both patients and physicians,” says Cronin, who also serves Taylor as vice chairman of the Department of Surgery. “He is respected by his peers, staff and hospital administration. I expect that he will continue to foster the excellent working relationship between the physicians and administration.”
Heffelfinger earned his Doctor of Osteopathy degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his internship at Riverside Hospital in Wilmington, Del., and his residency at Metropolitan Hospital, which is now Springfield Hospital. He is on staff at Taylor and Crozer-Chester Medical Center, and is a partner in Suburban Pulmonary Medicine, P.C., which has office locations in Ridley Park and Springfield.
He is a member of several medical societies, including the American College of Chest Physicians, the American Thoracic Association, the American College of Osteopathic Internists, the American Osteopathic Association, the Pennsylvania Osteopathic Medical Association, and the Pennsylvania Medical Society.
Taylor Hospital is a member of the Crozer-Keystone Health System. We’re 5 hospitals, 2,600 doctors and nurses, and 7,100 caring people with 1 vision. Crozer-Keystone. Something to feel good about.
