Ridley Park, Pa.— At their annual service awards banquet at the Springfield Country Club, Taylor and Springfield Hospitals each named their Employee of the Year and Manager of the Year for 2007/2008.

At Taylor, Trudy Mazzone, administrative director of Diagnostic Imaging, was chosen as Manager of the Year; and Elizabeth “Betsy” Kelly, was named Employee of the Year. Springfield selected Amy Meehan, nurse manager of the Emergency Department, as Manager of the Year. Dorothy “Dottie” Laws, of the Acute Care Center, was named Employee of the Year.

Trudy Mazzone began her career at Taylor Hospital in 1994 as the director of Imaging Services. Trudy’s talent for managing multiple departments and her operational expertise resulted in her promotion to administrative director of Diagnostic Imaging and Cardiopulmonary Services in 2001. Trudy does an exceptional job of keeping her many departments running smoothly and at the same time ensuring quality care and services to Taylor’s patients. Trudy and her husband, Anthony live in Sewell, NJ with their two children.

Elizabeth “Betsy” Kelly joined the Taylor Hospital family in June 1998 and has been an invaluable asset ever since. As the patient care secretary on 3A, Betsy helps keep the unit running smoothly. Betsy’s nurse managers, Kelly Dignazio and Theresa Sardella, state that “Betsy is really the captain of our ship. She is the first person you see when you enter the unit. She is found greeting family members and offering assistance to them whenever she can. We frequently receive compliments from visiting family members, stating what a pleasant person she is.”

Betsy’s coworkers describe her as a “truly wonderful person as well as employee. She is genuine in all that she does, and does it with a smile.”

Betsy and her husband Charles are the proud parents of two adult daughters.

Amy Meehan began her career in nursing at Metropolitan Hospital as a graduate nurse in 1983. In 1992, Amy left briefly but returned to Springfield as a staff nurse in 1994. Always a patient advocate and a team player, Springfield was happy to have Amy return.

Amy’s exceptional leadership qualities and strong interpersonal skills did not go unnoticed, and in 2001 Amy was promoted into her current role as nurse manager of the Emergency Department. Amy’s down-to-earth and approachable manner, coupled with her commitment to excellence in patient care, contributed to her exceptional leadership abilities.

Amy and her husband Jeff live in Royersford, Pa. with their three teenage children.

Dorothy “Dottie” Laws started her career at Springfield Hospital, formerly Metropolitan Hospital, in the ICU back in 1978. After moving to the Telemetry Unit, she moved into her current position as patient care technician in the Acute Care Center (ACC). Dottie is known as an advocate for patients, family members and staff, who frequently look to her for advice. She takes the time to listen, and treats patients and their family members as if they were part of her own family. Dottie resides in Media.

Taylor and Springfield are part of the Crozer-Keystone Health System. We’re 5 hospitals, 2,600 doctors and nurses, and 7,100 caring people with 1 vision. Crozer-Keystone. Something to feel good about.
