Crozer-Keystone Employees Honored
by American Red Cross

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
June 2007

The Chester-Wallingford Chapter of the American Red Cross honored Crozer-Chester Medical Center as “Outstanding Healthcare Sponsor” and Crozer employees Stephanie LaFrance, center left, and Marilyn Radley, center right, as “Chairperson(s) of the Year,” at its Donor Recognition Breakfast on April 20. Also pictured are Crozer-Keystone employee Tom Allen, left, honored for reaching the five gallon donor level, and William Kreider, right, vice-president of human resources for Crozer-Chester Medical Center.

Upland, Pa. – The Chester-Wallingford Chapter of the American Red Cross recognized Crozer-Keystone employees Marilyn Radley and Stephanie LaFrance, as well as Crozer-Chester Medical Center, at its Donor Recognition Breakfast in April. Crozer was awarded the prize for Outstanding Healthcare Sponsor and LaFrance and Radley were recognized as Chairperson(s) of the Year.

“Stephanie and I were very proud to represent the employees at Crozer who are committed to saving lives by donating blood,” says Radley, human resources manager at Crozer. “We have some very faithful donors, including one person who has donated more than 11 gallons of blood.  It is great for them to be recognized.”

While Crozer has been committed to holding blood drives at the medical center for several years now, the drives have been kicked up a notch since LaFrance, a former manager in the Crozer Laboratory who now serves as the physician and community services manager for Taylor Hospital, and Radley became co-chairs in August 2006. Over their first year as co-chairs, blood drive donations increased 69 percent over last year’s total, with 371 unit collections made between July 2006 and June 2007.

“Marilyn Radley and Stephanie LaFrance have done a great job this past year and I am thrilled to have had the chance to work with both of them,” says American Red Cross account manager Jillian Carpenter “I am looking forward to another successful drive on Aug. 13 working with Crozer.”

The Aug. 13 blood drive will take place from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Clark Lobby at Crozer. In an effort to offset the usual summer decline of blood donations, the American Red Cross will be running several promotions from now until Sept. 16. Since May 25, one $25 gas card has been raffled off every day to a presenting donor at a blood drive in each blood drive region. To enter, volunteers just need to present to donate at an American Red Cross blood drive or donor center to be automatically entered to win. Additionally, all presenting donors from now until Sept. 16 will also be entered into a grand prize drawing for an impressive $3500 in free gas.

To sign up for Crozer’s blood drive, go to www.pleasegiveblood.org/sponsor.html?sponsorcode=4f34. For more information, contact Radley at 610-447-6301, or the American Red Cross at 1-800-GIVE LIFE or www.pleasegiveblood.org.
