All Month Long at the Healthplex
Sports Club

SPRINGFIELD –In honor of Medical Fitness Week, which takes place April 23-29, the Healthplexâ Sports Club has planned an assortment of free activities throughout the month of April that are focused on promoting fitness activities and healthy lifestyle habits that can lead to a positive medical fitness difference.

 

The Healthplexâ offers the following programs to members and non-members of the club:

  • April 14 – Fifth Annual Indoor Triathlon. Participants will try and cover as much distance as possible in three areas: swimming, walking/running and biking. Registrations forms are available at the club. For more information, contact 610-328-8866.
  • April 19 – Free Arthritis Lecture – “The Benefits-and Joys-of Keeping Active with Arthritis.” This lecture will take place at 2 p.m. at the Media Presbyterian Church, located at 30 East Baltimore Avenue in Media. For more information, call 1-800-CK-HEALTH (1-800-254-3258).
  • April 20 – Kids Karnival. The club will hold its semi-annual night dedicated to providing children and their families with fun activities, as well as information about the many programs available at the club for children. The event will take place from 6-8 p.m. at the club.
  • April 21 – Healthy Inspirations Cooking Demonstration. Healthy Inspirations, the club’s comprehensive weight-loss and lifestyle program, regularly holds cooking demonstrations for club members. In honor of Medical Fitness Week, the program will open up its “Light Desserts” demonstration to all non-members as well. Call 610-338-2700 for more information.
  • April 21 – Fitness Frenzy. Over the course of the two hours from 10 a.m.-noon, participants will rotate between four different challenging workouts, located in different locations throughout the club. Get a chance to see the club’s facilities, learn new workouts and meet four of the club’s skilled trainers, all while burning calories. For more information, call 610-328-8866.

Medical Fitness Week is a result of a collaborative effort by the Medical Fitness Association (MFA) and the MFA educational committee.  Currently in its second year, Medical Fitness Week is designed to promote an increase in physical activity for people of all ages, while demonstrating the medical fitness difference.
