Crozer-Keystone to Host Free Colorectal
Cancer Screening Awareness
Educational Programs

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
March 2007

Crozer-Keystone Health System, a longtime leader in cancer treatment, will recognize Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month (March) with free colorectal cancer screening awareness educational programs at three of its hospitals. Each appointment will include a clinical exam by a qualified physician.

The programs will be held at the following locations:

  • Crozer-Chester Medical Center (One Medical Center Boulevard, Upland), March 14 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Crozer Regional Cancer Center.
  • Delaware County Memorial Hospital (501 N. Lansdowne Ave., Drexel Hill), March 15 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Delaware County Regional Cancer Center.
  • Taylor Hospital (175 East Chester Pike, Ridley Park), March 21 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Short Procedure Unit.

Appointments are recommended for those over 50 (or younger if there is a family history of colorectal cancer) who have not been previously diagnosed with colorectal cancer, who have not had a colonoscopy in the last 12 months, and who are not currently undergoing treatment for colorectal cancer.

Registration is required at these screenings. To register, call 1-800-CK-HEALTH (1-800-254-3258).

Colorectal cancer is the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths (behind lung cancer) in the U.S., according to the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons. The disease affects men and women with almost equal frequency. Through screening and early detection, the disease is curable. Between 80 to 90 percent of colorectal cancer patients are restored to normal health if their cancer is detected and treated in the earliest stages.

Through the Fox Chase Crozer-Keystone Cancer Partnership, Crozer-Keystone and Fox Chase physicians and hospitals work together on a range of clinical and research initiatives. Visit http://ckcancer.crozer.org for more information.
