SPRINGFIELD – Crozer-Keystone will soon present “Facing the Challenge,” a free six-week workshop for women with breast cancer.
The workshop will begin on Wednesday, Sept. 17, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the 2nd Floor Terrace Room in the Crozer Regional Cancer Center at Crozer-Chester Medical Center, One Medical Center Boulevard, Upland. Other sessions will be held on Sept. 24 and Oct. 1, 8, 15 and 22.
The workshop will cover a range of topics to help women with breast cancer lead full, productive lives. Among the topics to be covered include:
· Surgery and the recovery period
· Understanding radiation therapy
· Taking the fear out of chemotherapy
· The surgical approach to reconstruction
· Maintaining an active lifestyle during treatment
· Family issues:
Communication, relationships and sexuality
· Looking good: Personal appearance enhancement
· Women’s unique concerns: Dealing with hormonal changes
· A healthy approach to foods, vitamins and herbs
· Is it in the genes?
