Crozer-Chester Medical Center recently held a “Hero Day” event on June 23 to celebrate the safe return of surgeons Vincent Moss, M.D., and Vance Moss, M.D, from their recent military service in Iraq. The event also honored Crozer employees who are veterans and employees with loved ones serving overseas.
Vincent Moss, a thoracic and trauma surgeon, and Vance Moss, a urologic surgeon, are twins and are both members of the U.S. Army Reserve Medical Corps. The physicians have completed traditional tours of duty as well as two missions to Afghanistan to treat sick and maimed civilians at their own monetary expense. At the event, the Mosses received the Bertram Speare Spirit of Crozer award. Spirit of Crozer awards are given to employees who advance Crozer’s mission by reaching “within and beyond” the boundaries of the campus to serve patients, co-workers and communities.
The event included remarks by Bill Walsh, district director for U.S. Congressman Joseph Sestak; Kenneth Braithwaite, regional executive for the Delaware Valley Healthcare Council; Riad Cachecho, M.D., medical director of the Crozer Regional Trauma Center; and Joseph Saunders, president of Crozer-Chester Medical Center.
