SPRINGFIELD - At their annual meeting on Dec. 11, the Crozer-Keystone Health System Boards of Directors showed their support for two local charities. The boards presented $5,000 checks to the Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry and Cobbs Creek Housing Services, Inc.

Based at Prospect Hill Baptist Church, the Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry is a non-denominational, non-sectarian food bank that supplies food to those in need in areas of Delaware County. Each family can use the Pantry twice each month and must fall within the U.S. Department of Agriculture guidelines for poverty. The organization, part of the Interfaith Coalition of Food Centers, helps more than 270 families (about 900 people) each month.

Cobbs Creek Housing Service, Inc., built and manages the Life Center of Eastern Delaware County, a state-of-the-art emergency shelter in Upper Darby. Since its inception, the Life Center has helped homeless residents with emergency shelter, permanent housing and employment. Cobbs Creek Housing Service, Inc. was formed by the Community Action Agency of Delaware County, which assists families and individuals to move toward economic self-sufficiency and reduce their dependence on public support through a range of programs.
