WHAT: Crozer-Chester Medical Center will host a special celebration in remembrance of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. for employees and members of the local community. The celebration will include inspirational remarks, an award presentation and performances by the African Episcopal Church of St. Thomas Gospel Choir of Philadelphia.
Among the speakers will be U.S. Congressman Joseph Sestak and Lamell McMorris, the principal of Perennial Strategy Group who has been recognized as one of the “30 leaders of the future, 30 and under” by Ebony magazine.
In addition, the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service Committee of Chester will present a “Spirit Award” to the Chester Society of Friends.
Crozer Theological Seminary, where Dr. King earned his divinity degree in 1951, was formerly located on Crozer’s campus. It was at Crozer that King developed his ideas about nonviolence as a method of social reform.
