DCMH to Host Stroke Awareness Events

DREXEL HILL, Pa.Delaware County Memorial Hospital will host the following events centered on stroke precautions and awareness for local residents:

  • Risk Factors of Stroke,” featuring Maureen DePrince, R.N., DCMH stroke coordinator, Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2008, DCMH Conference Center, 6-7 p.m.
  • “What is a Stroke, Warnings and TIA?” featuring Robert Slater, M.D., DCMH neurologist, Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2008, DCMH Conference Center, 6-7 p.m.
  • “Nutrition,” featuring Phyllis Carpoletti, R.D., DCMH nutritionist, Wednesday, March 5, 2008, DCMH Conference Center, 6-7 p.m.
  • “What to Expect if You Suffer a Stroke,” Wednesday, April 2, 2008, DCMH Conference Center, 6-7 p.m.
  • “What Have You Learned About Stroke/Screening?” featuring Joseph Lubeck, D.O., DCMH neurologist, Wednesday, May 7, 2008, DCMH Conference Center, 6-7 p.m.
  • Stroke Risk Assessments, Wednesday, May 21, 2008, Delaware County Regional Cancer Center, 1-3 p.m. DCMH clinicians will take blood pressure readings; do assessments of the carotid artery; do pulse checks; and provide information and an action plan for follow up, if needed.
