Taylor's Quarter Century Club Makes Donations
to Local Churches

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
January 2008

Representatives from the churches receiving the donations are Lil Burnham, far left, Olivet Presbyterian Church of Prospect Park, and Carol Hammes, far right, United Methodist Church of Norwood. Presenting the checks were Antoinette Gallagher, second from left, president of Taylor Hospital’s Quarter Century Club, and Joy Petrick, second from right, a Quarter Century Club member.

Ridley Park, PA – This year, instead of exchanging candy dishes and picture frames during their annual holiday Pollyanna, the members of Taylor Hospital’s Quarter Century Club decided to use their money to give back to the community. The Quarter Century Club, which is a group of individuals who have served at least 25 years as Taylor Hospital employees, presented a $150 check each to two Delaware County churches.

On Dec. 11, Antoinette Gallagher, president of The Quarter Century Club, presented the checks to the United Methodist Church of Norwood and the Olivet Presbyterian Church of Prospect Park. Gallagher is a retired Medical Records employee who has been part of the Taylor family since 1970.

“The reason we decided to donate money to these two particular churches is because of their services to Taylor Hospital,” Gallagher says. “People from these two churches volunteer at Taylor Hospital by visiting with patients as well as buying and providing lunches for patients’ families. We decided that we would donate money to help them pay for those lunches.”

Taylor’s Quarter Century Club has humble roots—it began as a social club for retirees to meet one another and make new friends. Now, it is a dynamic group of people who focus on giving back to Taylor Hospital and their community. For the past several years, they have raised money for and donated supplies and equipment to Taylor Hospital. Past donations include wheelchairs, crutches, canes and tabletop blood pressure machines, as well as a $1,000 scholarship to a local high school graduate who was interested in pursuing a career in the health care field.

Gallagher says that the club will continue to look for ways to give back to Taylor, its employees and retirees, as well as its community.

Taylor Hospital is a member of the Crozer-Keystone Health System. We’re 5 hospitals, 2,600 doctors and nurses, and 7,100 caring people with 1 vision. Crozer-Keystone. Something to feel good about.
