FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
July 2008

SPRINGFIELD, Pa. – Crozer-Keystone Health System’s (CKHS) Senior Health Services Department will offer a number of informational programs during the month of July.

Dining at Dusk: Crozer-Keystone is proud to present “Dining at Dusk,” a low-cost dining program that offers free lectures geared toward seniors. Join us for this event in July:

  • Oh, My Aching Feet, featuring Jeffrey Lehrman, D.P.M., a Crozer-Keystone podiatrist, on Tuesday, July 15, 5-7 p.m., Cafe Carl (Healthplex® Sports Club in Springfield); lecture is free; meal costs $5.30 and includes entrée, choice of two sides, fountain drink, bread and dessert. Free garage parking.

Wake Up and Work Out, July 1: Start your day the healthy way! Come join us as Crozer-Keystone Senior Health Services (CKHS) and the Healthplex® Sports Club provide seniors with an opportunity to jumpstart their day by participating in structured health and wellness programs, while offering an affordable, balanced breakfast. Participants will also benefit from the support of CKHS staff that will assist in coordinating medical appointments, as well as provide better access to appropriate medical services. The program will be offered on the first Tuesday of every month. A healthy breakfast, beginning at 7:45 a.m., may be purchased for $3 or less; followed by a 30-minute lecture, both to be held in Café Carl. A one-hour physical fitness session will then be led by a member of the Healthplex® team. Free garage parking.

AARP Defensive Driving: An eight-hour driving safety course held on two days that can help you improve your driving skills and save you money on insurance. Courses will be held:

  • Tuesday, July 8 and Friday, July 11, from 12:30-4:30 p.m. at the Healthplex® Sports Club in Springfield
  • Saturday, July 12 and Saturday, July 19, from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. in Classrooms A & B at Taylor Hospital in Ridley Park
  • Tuesday, July 29 and Thursday, July 31, from 12:30-4:30 p.m. in the Community Room at Crozer Medical Plaza at Brinton Lake in Glen Mills

A four-hour AARP Defensive Driving Refresher Course will be offered July 2, 12:30-4:30 p.m. in Meeting Room C of Delaware County Memorial Hospital in Drexel Hill.

Cost of each course is $10, with check made payable to AARP.

Caregiver's Support Group, July 10: When an adult child becomes the parent of the parent, it can become very stressful — sometimes individuals just need to realize they are not the only ones dealing with that situation. The Caregiver Support Group meets the first Thursday of every month, from 6-7 p.m. in the dining room of the ACE unit of Crozer-Chester Medical Center in Upland. For more information, call 610-338-2729.
