Crozer-Keystone Health System to Hold Food Drive During the Month of July

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
June 2008

Springfield, Pa. – In today’s challenging economic environment, many people, mainly seniors and families with children, are finding it difficult to make ends meet. The need for food is great, and many of these people are turning to local food banks for help.

Crozer-Keystone is the largest employer in Delaware County, and a leader in community service. Staff, physicians and volunteers routinely donate their time and resources for good causes. We are once again rising to the challenge to help our neighbors in need. We are on a mission, and we need your help!

During the month of July, we will collect non-perishable food for distribution at local secular and interfaith food banks. All donations will go directly to the people of Delaware County via the following food banks: Community Action Agency/Chester Food Shelters; Life Center at 69th Street, Upper Darby; St. Kevin Parish, Springfield; and Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry, Prospect Park.

Food should be packaged in cans, boxes, or plastic bottles/jars (no glass, please). Some examples include canned fruits/vegetables, macaroni and cheese, tuna fish or canned meats, cereals, bottled water, peanut butter/jelly (in plastic jars), soups, and pork and beans. Any donation, even one item, will go a long way to help our friends and neighbors who need us most.

Donation bins will be located in the Main Lobby of four of Crozer-Keystone’s hospitals (Community Hospital in Chester, Delaware County Memorial Hospital in Drexel Hill, Springfield Hospital in Springfield, and Taylor Hospital in Ridley Park). Crozer-Chester Medical Center in Upland will place a collection bin in the Lobby of the Professional Office Building. For security purposes, all lobbies will be under video surveillance.

For more information, call 1-800-CK-HEALTH (1-800-254-3258).

We’re 5 hospitals, 2,600 doctors and nurses, and 7,100 caring people with 1 vision. Crozer-Keystone. Something to feel good about.
