DREXEL HILL, Pa. — As part of the team’s community service project, members of the Archbishop Prendergast bowling team sold pink ribbon air fresheners to the public. Team members decided to donate the funds to the Delaware County Regional Cancer Center, located at Delaware County Memorial Hospital in Drexel Hill.
“A teacher passed recently passed away from cancer and another teacher was going through treatment for cancer while we were out selling the ribbons,” says Wendy Wiley, coach of the bowling team. “So, I didn’t have to twist anyone’s arm — they all were very willing to do it.”
The eight girls sold approximately 100 ribbons and presented a check for $200 to the Cancer Center. “When we were out selling the ribbons, just about everyone we met either had someone in their lives that dealt with or was dealing with cancer,” says Wiley. “It made a meaningful impact on all of the girls.”
