Upland, Pa. –In an all-campus election, Kevin Barr of Bear, Del. was recently named employee of the year at Crozer-Chester Medical Center. Barr, who works in the Patient Relations Department, received this honor during a recent employee service awards ceremony at thKe Springfield Country Club.
Barr is the first person a visitor or patient sees when walking through the front door of the medical. He greets visitors, guests and employees. Barr helps to keep the front of the hospital free from congestion; making sure cars are probably unloaded and kept free of the area and visitors are able to find their location with ease.
“Kevin has established himself as a presence at the front door. He puts patients first and takes a deep pride in himself, the department and Crozer,” says Terry Lynch, director of patient services. “Kevin and co-worker Orrin White have worked together to establish consistency from morning to night, with small tokens like lollipops, stickers and coloring books for children.”
Barr was recognized for his exceptional skill and proficiency in carrying out his assigned responsibilities. He accepts responsibility and demonstrates initiative and flexibility often by extending himself to provide patients and visitors with an extra hand. “Kevin is always the professional. Working at the front door often means confronting the weather and other unforeseen issues. He is never disrespectful and always upbeat when he is at work,” says Lynch.
