Upland, Pa. – Robert Shumate of Mount Joy, Pa., received a “Spirit of Crozer” award at Crozer-Chester Medical Center’s recent employee service awards ceremony at Springfield Country Club. Presented annually, the Bertram Speare “Spirit of Crozer” awards are given to employees who advance Crozer’s mission by reaching “within and beyond” the boundaries of the campus to serve patients, co-workers and communities.
Schumate’s co-workers respect him for his work ethic with the Information Services team as well as his great sense of humor. However, his work ethic continues long after he leaves work for the day.
Shumate is well-known for helping elderly residents in his neighborhood. He performs repairs, painting, lawn mowing and snow removal. He also carries around a large box with light bulbs, not only helping his friends to keep good lighting but also saving them money on electricity bills with eco-friendly bulbs. If there is anyway that he could lend a helping hand, Rob is more than willing to do that.
Crozer-Chester Medical Center is a 388-bed tertiary care facility that is part of the Crozer-Keystone Health System, the largest employer and health care provider in Delaware County. The medical center admits nearly 20,000 patients, treats approximately 50,000 Emergency Department patients, and delivers about 2,000 babies a year. For more information, visit www.crozer.org.
