Drexel Hill, Pa. – David S. McCloskey, M.D., F.A.C.S has been elected president of the medical staff of Delaware County Memorial Hospital by the hospital’s Medical Staff, effective July 1, 2008.
McCloskey succeeds W. James Hart, D.O., whose two-year term as medical staff president expired in June. McCloskey previously served as the medical staff’s vice president.
McCloskey has several goals on his immediate agenda. “We have a strong medical staff at DCMH,” he says. “One of my goals is to help retain our physicians and recruit to enhance our programs. Safety is another big initiative, not only at DCMH but on a national level as well. Finally, I want to continue to strive for excellence and build on Jim Hart’s achievements. He is a hard-working, loyal physician who has been an asset to DCMH both as a busy family physician and for his years of service as President of the Medical Staff.”
McCloskey has practiced as a surgeon at DCMH for the past 17 years, and is currently part of the Crozer-Keystone Health Network’s Delaware Valley Surgical Associates practice. He is a member of many DCMH committees, serving as chairman of the Credentials Committee and the Medical Executive Committee. He also is a member of the Joint Policy, OR, Infection Control, ICU and Quality committees.
He was recently elected chairman of the Department of Surgery at DCMH, succeeding Seth Malin, M.D.
“Dr. McCloskey is a skilled surgeon and an exceptional leader,” says William McCune, president of DCMH. “His patients love him, and the medical staff respect him. I look forward to collaborating with Dr. McCloskey as we work toward our mutual goal of retaining our quality medical staff and enhancing the services offered at DCMH.”
“Dr. McCloskey’s dedication to DCMH’s success is evident through the many administrative and leadership roles that he holds at the hospital,” says Joan K. Richards, chief executive officer of Crozer-Keystone Health System. “I know that he will accomplish a great deal during his tenure as President of the Medical Staff.”
McCloskey resides in Wynnewood with his wife and children, and enjoys Penn State football, boating and water skiing.
Edward LaPorta, M.D., chief of the Section of Cardiology at DCMH, will serve as vice president of the medical staff. John F. Reilly Jr., D.O., chairman of the Department of Emergency Medicine, will continue to serve as secretary, and Thomas A. DiLiberto, D.O., chairman of the Department of Radiology, will continue to serve as treasurer.
DCMH is a member of the Crozer-Keystone Health System. We’re 5 hospitals, 2,600 doctors and nurses, and 7,100 caring people with 1 vision. Crozer-Keystone, something to feel good about.
