Crozer-Keystone and Premier Orthopaedic Sign Multi-Year Partnership; Includes Fully Integrated Partnership and Team-Doctor Relationships
CHESTER, PA (October 17, 2008) – Two regional health care leaders have joined forces to sign a multi-year agreement with MLS Philadelphia 2010, becoming the first “Keystone Founding Partner” and creating a unique partnership that expands well beyond the new 18,500-seat waterfront stadium. Nick Sakiewicz, CEO and Operating Partner of Keystone Sports and Entertainment, LLC, the MLS Philadelphia 2010 ownership group, announced today that Crozer-Keystone Health System and Premier Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine Associates, LTD., have teamed up to create a dynamic ‘Chester-to-Chester’ partnership that will benefit the community and entire region.
“It is fitting that our first marketing partners are two outstanding local organizations that, like us, see our development and team as an engine revved to revitalize the City of Chester,” said Sakiewicz. “Crozer-Keystone and Premier Orthopaedic have always put the community first, and they’re doing it yet again with the announcement of this partnership. In these difficult economic times, businesses are seeking collaborative relationships that deliver considerable value – and that’s exactly what you get with MLS Philadelphia 2010.”
The Crozer-Keystone and Premier partnership will exclusively encompass all areas of team and stadium healthcare, including physical therapy, team-doctor relationships, and on-site medical services. As part of the multi-million dollar agreement, Crozer-Keystone and Premier will have access to a fully comprehensive partnership package that includes stadium inventory, branded real estate, as well as aggressive grassroots marketing and community outreach programs.
“We are so excited to get involved with this project at ground level,” said Joan Richards, President & CEO of Crozer-Keystone Health System. “We are convinced the stadium will fuel the waterfront redevelopment. It is exactly what Chester needs to continue its economic revitalization. As an organization that serves Chester, we are thrilled to be a part of it. Additionally, we believe that a lively soccer community will have a great impact on the youth of Delaware County by promoting healthy and active lifestyles.”
From its beginning in 1990, Crozer-Keystone Health System, located minutes from Philadelphia, has been the dominant provider of health care in Delaware County, Pennsylvania, northern Delaware, and part of western New Jersey. It provides a full spectrum of wellness, prevention, acute care, rehabilitation and restorative care to the community. The health system comprises five hospitals, a comprehensive physician network of primary-care and specialty practices, and the Healthplex® Sports Club. With more than 1,100 physicians and 7,100 total employees, Crozer-Keystone is the largest employer in Delaware County.
“Major League Soccer is an ideal fit for our practice – it has a huge and passionate local fan base,” said Charles Hummer III, M.D. of Premier Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Associates. “We are well positioned to provide all of the team’s orthopaedic healthcare needs and look forward to a long and successful partnership. We are proud to be taking a lead role in the continued revitalization of Chester.”
Premier Orthopedic & Sports Medicine Associates formed in 2000 with a mission to provide high quality, comprehensive and accessible care to its patients. It provides the highest quality musculoskeletal care in the Philadelphia region. Premier is comprised of 30 orthopaedic surgeons and is the largest specialty group in Pennsylvania. Its specialists range from hand and joint replacement to sports injuries involving the knees and shoulders.
“It is especially important in these uncertain times to enter into the right partnerships,” said James McGlynn, M.D. of Premier Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Associates. “I cannot imagine a partnership that will bring more value than this one. It is an opportunity to get involved with a sport that is growing wildly in popularity, while at the same time making an investment in our local community. It’s a win-win for us.”
With already more than 5,000 season ticket deposits, the 18,500-seat stadium will be constructed at the foot of the Commodore Barry Bridge in Chester, just 13 miles from downtown Philadelphia and easily accessible by public transit and Interstate 95. The multi-purpose stadium will feature an 11,000 square foot club, 30 suites, a special 2,000-seat supporters club section and a built-in concert stage for world-class music shows. Additionally, the new structure will have a waterfront park and plaza used for both stadium entry and community sponsored events such as festivals. The soccer-specific stadium is the centerpiece of a $500 million entertainment, retail, residential and commercial development covering more than 100 acres along the historic Delaware River waterfront.
This partnership is the first of numerous exciting announcements, many of which will come in the near future, and is a result of efforts by the MLS Philadelphia 2010 sales team in conjunction with Dave Mosca from Soccer United Marketing.
