Crozer-Keystone to Host Free
Colorectal Cancer Screening Awareness
Educational Program

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
March 2009

Crozer-Keystone Health System, a longtime leader in cancer treatment, will offer free colorectal cancer screening awareness educational programs at two locations.

Programs will be held at the following dates and locations:

·         March 24 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Delaware County Regional Cancer Center at Delaware County Memorial Hospital, 501 N. Lansdowne Ave. in Drexel Hill.

·         April 6 from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at the Crozer Regional Cancer Center at Crozer-Chester Medical Center, One Medical Center Boulevard in Upland.

Each appointment will include a clinical exam by a qualified physician. Appointments are recommended for those over 50 (or younger if there is a family history of colorectal cancer) who have not been previously diagnosed with colorectal cancer, who have not had a colonoscopy in the last 12 months, and who are not currently undergoing treatment for colorectal cancer.

Registration is required. To register, call 1-800-CK-HEALTH (1-800-254-3258).

Colorectal cancer is the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths (behind lung cancer) in the U.S., according to the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons. The disease affects men and women with almost equal frequency. Between 80 to 90 percent of colorectal cancer patients are restored to normal health if their cancer is detected and treated in the earliest stages.

Through the Fox Chase Crozer-Keystone Cancer Partnership, Crozer-Keystone and Fox Chase physicians and hospitals work together on a range of clinical and research initiatives. Visit http://ckcancer.crozer.org for more information, or call 1-866-695-HOPE (1-866-695-4673) to request a prompt appointment with a Crozer-Keystone physician who treats cancer patients.
