Community Hospital in Chester continues to offer a wide array of services to the residents of Delaware County. An outpatient facility, Community Hospital focuses on primary care; behavioral health services, including child, adolescent, adult and geriatric mental health services; and substance abuse counseling and treatment.
“Our goal is to provide comprehensive, multidisciplinary care to our patients,” says Kevin Caputo, M.D., chief operating officer of Community Hospital and CKHS vice president. “We are one of a handful of facilities that offers various treatment options and case management for patients with mental illness and/or substance abuse.”
Outpatient mental health services at Community include individual, family and group psychotherapy, medication management, school consultation, social services and 24-hour crisis availability to patients. In addition, Intensive Case Management is available to coordinate services available at home, within Crozer-Keystone Health System and throughout the county.
Along with mental health services, Community Hospital also offers drug and alcohol abuse programs for adults and adolescents. These programs provide substance abuse services to individuals and their families who require ongoing support and counseling, medical and psychiatric services, a Methadone Maintenance Program, and HIV and other related services.
“In addition to these individual programs, Community also offers a dual diagnosis program for patients who have both a chemical dependency and mental health problems,” says Caputo. “This allows for a continuity of care for the patient and sensitivity to his or her unique needs.”
