    Director's Corner

by Barbara Alexis Looby, MSWAC, Administrative Director of CKHS Senior Health Services

For several weeks now it seems like stories of death and dying, and the tragic circumstances that surround them, have become prime time news. In addition to these high-profile deaths, we are left to cope with our own losses and daily adjustments to life’s surprises. Whether it is the death of a close friend and associate, a celebrity, a favorite author, or someone connected to us directly or by six degrees of separation, we too mourn the loss. More>

Take Heart: Tips to Lower Cardiovascular Disease Risk
The heart is our body’s most important muscle, and staying heart healthy is everyone’s priority—especially as we age. For some, it may be a total lifestyle shift—a transition from eating fatty, fried foods to eating leaner and healthier offerings; or from being sedentary to having a daily walk or run. Any form of physical activity, as long as it’s approved by your doctor, can significantly benefit you in the long run. More>

Advocate for Health Care: Send a Message to Oppose Cuts
Act now and influence the outcome of the budget discussion for Pennsylvania. Join Crozer-Keystone Health System in our efforts to alert your elected state officials that further cuts to our funding seriously and negatively impact the care our hospitals can provide. The proposed 2009-2010 Pennsylvania State budget contains significant cuts to hospitals’ Medicaid funding. It will also eliminate all supplemental funding for Burn, Trauma and Obstetrical services. These cuts affect health care services that people cannot go without. Make your voice heard; send an online letter to your elected officials by going to www.crozer.org and clicking on the box in the center of the page that says, “Tell Your Lawmakers…” You will be prompted for further instructions to send your letter.

Calendar of Events
Crozer-Keystone Health System is proud to offer a range of outreach programs and events to the people in the Delaware County communities we serve. This comprehensive guide lists activities taking place in August at Crozer-Keystone’s five hospitals and other area locations. More>
