    Caregiver's Corner

by Margaret Stevens, M.S.W. — Triage Clinician, CKHS Senior Health Services

These are challenging times for many Americans, and older adults like the rest of the population are experiencing some economic hardships. For many, the hopes for a carefree retirement and having “disposable income” are no longer terms used to describe their lifestyles. Rather, they are joining the ranks of those being laid off from their jobs. Those without medical or prescription coverage who are losing their savings in the stock market are what we see and hear about when we turn on the local and national news. The “golden years” may no longer seem so golden. More>

Remind Legislators: Don't Balance Budget with Medicaid Cuts
Act now and influence the outcome of the budget discussion for Pennsylvania. Join Crozer-Keystone Health System in our efforts to alert your elected state officials that further cuts to our funding seriously and negatively impact the care our hospitals can provide. The proposed 2009-2010 Pennsylvania State budget contains significant cuts to hospitals’ Medicaid funding. It will also eliminate all supplemental funding for Burn, Trauma and Obstetrical services. These cuts affect health care services that people cannot go without. Make your voice heard; send an online letter to your elected officials by going to www.crozer.org and clicking on the box in the center of the page that says, “Tell Your Lawmakers…” You will be prompted for further instructions to send your letter.
