Many thanks to our members and guests who helped us celebrate the ninth birthday of the HealthplexÒ Sports Club at our fun “Anniversary Week” in early October. We hope that you enjoyed the range of events, from Monte Carlo Night to the ever-popular “Cake Day” to our Friday-night Kids Karnival.

Like all of our programs and events, we gladly provided these special offerings to you as a way to show our appreciation for your support through the years. Clearly, our members value the dedication of our staff and the comprehensive, member-focused nature of our club. We can tell by our high member retention rates, plus by the loyalty of the hundreds of members who have been with us the entire nine years.

Our members are not the only ones who have recognized the excellence of the Healthplex®. Among our accolades are being named “Best of the Main Line” and “Best Place to Play Pick-up Basketball” by local publications. Our personal trainers have been named tops in Delaware County several times by the Daily Times. The club has also been featured in Metropolis and Fitness Management magazines. Several of our staff members have presented at national conferences presented by such organizations at the Medical Fitness Association and Club Industry.

I want to stress that we will remain committed to providing our members with the highest level of customer service, facilities and programming.

Like any good organization, the backbone of our operation is our staff. We offer 25 skilled trainers with a combined 30 degrees in related fields. Our tennis pros have helped develop players who have competed at the local, regional and national levels. Hundreds of children have been taught to swim by our excellent aquatics instructors. Our Service Desk and locker room staff have been recognized for their excellent service and friendliness to our members. We will continue to seek talented, experienced professionals who will bring fresh ideas and enthusiasm to the club.

To keep the Healthplex® new and exciting, we also continue to upgrade our facilities. Every area of the club has undergone a “summer spruce-up.” We again went through the club cleaning, painting and repairing all areas to help our facility maintain a fresh look. In the tennis area, we recently completed repainting the courts and the lines on the track. Look for more great new facility improvements to come.

On the programming end, our staff is always coming up with fresh ideas to make our club better. We announced our new Fall Prevention program in the last issue of Playmaker, and this issue we are proud to introduce Active Release Techniques, a new soft-tissue treatment system for a range of physical ailments, and Synergie, a massage technology founding our Spa at the HealthplexÒ that attacks unwanted cellulite. There’s a lot more to come, and we always welcome your suggestions for new programs, events and classes.

Again, I’d like to thank all our members and staff who have helped make the Healthplex Sports Club the premier club in the Delaware Valley. Mark your calendars now for our 10-year anniversary celebration. We plan to host a party at the Springfield Country Club in October 2006 to celebrate a decade of fun, fitness and health.
