New this year at each event was the presentation of two awards: the Celebrate Life Community Achievement Award, and the Celebrate Life Survivor Recognition Award.
At DCMH, the inaugural community award was presented to Eagle National Bank for their contributions to the cancer center as well as the community for the past 12 years. The Eagle National Bank 5K walk/run has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars over this timeframe, and Eagle employees have given many hours of their time to organize and staff the event each year.
At Crozer, this same award was presented to Mena Dabbundo and her salon, Contemporary Styles. Dabbundo is the founder and organizer of "Girls Night Out," an annual regional fashion show that raises money for cancer organizations, including the Crozer Regional Cancer Center.
The inaugural Survivor Recognition Award at DCMH was presented to Nancy Hope, a cancer survivor who leads a tireless fight against cancer. Members of her 350-person "Team Hope" anticipate being in attendance at this year's walk/run.
At Crozer, the award was presented to Kristin Varley, a cancer survivor who organizes a group of volunteers who educate area medical students about how to treat cancer patients.
