Most people would be concerned if their home computer, after contracting an e-mail virus, suddenly stopped working — and made a laughing sound every time they tried to boot it up.
Tina Hoot knew exactly what to do.
“I remembered hearing about the Dell Employee Purchase Plan during last year’s Benefits Fair,” says Hoot, assistant clinical coordinator for the Crozer-Chester Medical Center and Delaware County Memorial Hospital Hospice departments. “My husband and I went online and checked it out.”
Hoot and her husband, an engineer, researched the computer they wanted and compared prices.
“The computer we wanted was more than $300 cheaper when purchased through the Employee Purchase Plan, and we saved $105 on shipping,” she says. “We also received the computer very quickly — we ordered on Saturday, and it was delivered to our home on Tuesday.”
Hoot is one of many CKHS employees who have ordered a new computer through the Dell Employee Purchase Plan — and have been very satisfied with the result.
Tailored just for Crozer-Keystone employees, the Employee Purchase Plan includes year-round discounts of up to 12 percent of Dell Dimension desktops and Inspiron notebooks, frequent special values and promotions in addition to standard discounts, easy payment options, discounted three-to-five-day ground shipping and Dell’s award-winning 24/7 online and telephone technical support.
Employees can order their new computers by logging on to the Dell Employee Purchase Store at www.dell.com/eppbuy, then entering the CKHS Member ID number (available through the “Reference” section of the Benefits section of the Crozer-Keystone Intranet). The site will guide you through the ordering process to select a new high-performance Dell notebook or desktop PC, or to add upgrades to an existing system.
Employees can also speak directly with a Dell sales representative by calling (800) 695-8133, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m., or Saturday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
When Annette Holloway of the Crozer-Keystone Health Network (located at the Community Hospital Medical Office Building) found herself in need of a new computer, she and a co-worker utilized both the phone number and the website.
“Patricia Fox (also of CKHN at Community) talked with a representative over the phone, and then we went online to place our order,” says Holloway, who ordered her computer last December. “We received a better discount and a reduced shipping fee for ordering together. I was able to order a computer to my exact specifications and got six free months of Internet service. It was very easy, and I’m very pleased with the results.”
Hoot agrees.
“The computer is great. It’s just what we needed,” she says. “I would highly recommend this program to any employee who is considering purchasing a computer.”
