Peter Oetinger may be new to the Crozer-Keystone Health Services Board, but he’s already got big ideas for its future.
“From the beginning of my career, I’ve taken a shine to process work,” says Mr. Oetinger, senior process analyst for the supply and demand planning business processes at Rohm and Haas Company. “I enjoy looking for new ways to streamline and simplify processes, and am looking forward to giving any help I can to the Health Services Board. It’s a great way to get Crozer-Keystone’s services to the people who need them.”
A chemical engineer, Mr. Oetinger has spent the better part of his career at Rohm and Haas, starting as a process engineer at the company’s Louisville, Ky. plant, and working his way through the ranks to his current position. Along the way, he served as a process engineer, advanced process control department manager, customer service manager and supply chain consultant at sites ranging from Houston to Louisville. He recently supported the implementation of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software, which included process reengineering to help coordinate the company’s global business operations.
“My job is to take complex issues and make them less complex,” Mr. Oetinger says. “It’s a great way of overseeing systems and making them run more smoothly.”
That’s a business model he hopes to apply to Crozer-Keystone’s Health Services Board, which he joined in early 2006. It’s far from his first interaction with the health system.
“Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to see the health system from a first-hand perspective, having had back surgery at Crozer-Chester Medical Center,” he says. “My experience was very positive — I came out pain-free, and with a great deal of respect for the physicians and staff there. And my wife’s two surgeries at Crozer-Chester had the same results.”
In addition, Mr. Oetinger’s wife, Ellen, has co-chaired Crozer’s annual Bayberry Gala for several years, and several of his colleagues and associates serve on the Board of Directors and Health Services Board at CKHS. He will continue to serve as a member of the Joint Policy Committee at Crozer-Chester Medical Center.
“I am very much looking forward to working with the Health Services Board to continue to bring high-quality care to the members of Crozer-Keystone’s community,” Mr. Oetinger says. “I am so proud to be involved with an organization that does such great work for its patients, and I applaud what each member of the staff is doing on a daily basis.”
In his spare time, Mr. Oetinger is a member of the Board of Trustees of his church, and enjoys playing music and exercising. He served as a Cub Scout Leader for many years.
Mr. Oetinger lives in Wallingford with his wife and two sons, Philip, 15, and Henrik, 12, who attend schools in the Wallingford-Swarthmore School District.
