Sat Arora, M.D., was elected president of the medical and dental staff at Crozer-Chester Medical Center. Arora, a nephrologist, began serving his two-year term July 1.
“I’m honored and feel privileged to be elected president by the medical staff,” Arora says. “I am grateful for their vote of confidence in me.”
A native of India, Arora received his bachelor’s degree in medicine from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences. Arora completed residencies in medicine at both the Boston and Bronx V.A. Medical Centers and had a fellowship in nephrology at Boston V.A. Medical Center. He is board-certified in nephrology and certified by the American Society of Hypertension as a clinical specialist in hypertension. Arora has been a staff member at Crozer for 26 years. He was the chairman of the credentials committee from July 2000 to December 2005. He also served on the Institutional Review Board from 1994 to 2003. Prior to his election as president, Arora served as vice-president under outgoing president Gary Wendell, M.D., a specialist in pulmonary and critical care medicine. Wendell says he knows Arora will do an admirable job in his new role.
“When you leave a leadership position there is always a worry of how ‘the ship will sail’ without you,” Wendell says. “However, with Dr. Arora taking the helm, I can leave with confidence that the Crozer medical staff is in excellent hands. Dr. Arora is a caring and compassionate individual who has devoted countless hours to the medical staff over the past few years. His leadership as chairman of the credentials committee was key during the recent revisions of our credentialing process. I am sure he will do a superb job in his new role as president of the medical staff and I look forward to working with him.”
Arora gives equal praise to Wendell’s efforts during his presidency.
“He did an outstanding job, especially in spearheading the new bylaws,” Arora says. “He was one of the main people involved in that process.”
Arora looks to continue the outstanding work Wendell did over the past two years.
“Crozer-Chester Medical Center is one of the prestigious medical centers in the entire Delaware Valley and it’s an honor to be associated with this institution,” Arora says. “I will continue to work with the administrative and medical staff to improve the quality of care we provide. No matter how good we are, there’s always room for improvement.”
“I look forward to continuing the work done over the past several years in successfully recruiting quality physicians to Crozer,” Arora adds.
Joseph Saunders, chief operating officer of Crozer-Chester Medical Center and CKHS vice president, says, “Dr. Arora is a well-respected and well-liked member of the medical staff. He is a physician’s physician and a patient’s physician, and I’m proud and pleased to be able to work with him during his presidency.”
Joan K. Richards, president and chief operating officer of Crozer-Keystone Health System, says that she looks forward to working together with Arora in his efforts during the next two years.
“His extensive experience and dedication to patients, the hospital and the medical staff will make Dr. Arora an outstanding medical staff president,” she says. “I look forward to working with him in his new role.”
In addition to the election of Arora, Frank Giammattei, M.D., chief of the Division of Orthopedic Surgery, was elected as the new vice president, and Anthony DiMarco, D.O., who specializes in family medicine, was elected as the new secretary and treasurer.
