Get Active, Stay Local with the Delco Race Series

This fall, the Healthplex® Sports Club introduced the Delco Race Series, a free new competition that promotes the health benefits of running while supporting the large running community in the county.

The club has partnered with five local 5K road races throughout the fall of 2006 and the spring of 2007 to create a separate, friendly competition for Delco runners. Participants in any these races are invited to also enter the Race Series – free of charge - by simply completing a registration form. Race Series participants compete in for prizes at the end of each race, as well as cumulative prizes at the end of the five-race series. Prizes include trophies, Healthplex® gift certificates and cash.

In addition to the Eagle National Bank 5K Walk/Run at Delaware County Memorial Hospital, which takes place on Sept. 30, other participating races are:

  • Oct. 15: Greater Springfield Business Association 5k Run/Walk, Springfield
  • Dec. 10: Reindeer Romp, Havertown
  • May 6: Safe from the Sun, Villanova
  • June 8 (2007): 7th Running of the Monk, Springfield

Runners accumulate points based on how they finish in each race. Because points are cumulative, it pays to register early in the series.

Anyone interested in participating can pick up a registration form at the Healthplex®, or contact the club at (610) 328-8888.
