As a gerontological nurse practitioner, I value the perspective that my background in nursing gives me as well as the life-perspective that my patients share with me. I find that seeing patients at home provides me with the biggest challenge and the most rewarding experience.
Whether in the home or in the office, I believe that patients are ultimately in charge of their health and of the decisions they make that impact their physical and emotional wellness. I enjoy working in close partnership with patients to help them achieve the greatest level of health possible. Patient education, especially in the areas of heart health, nutrition and diabetes, are special interests of mine. Frequently, helping people feel better involves helping them to become more active and lose weight. I have completed additional training in holistic health and nutrition and also hold a certificate as a holistic health counselor.
Away from the office, I enjoy spending time with my husband Steve and my two adult children, Christopher (23) and Kelly (19) (my frequent running partner). I love to workout and to run (especially marathons) and am always looking for new running partners (especially for those “lunch runs”). Volunteering is another interest of mine. I have become very active with the groups, "Back on My Feet" over the past year, and am very proud of the work that they do in involving men and women living in homeless shelters in running programs.
