The Chester Youth Collaborative Community Council is a community group dedicated to “building relationships that promote a community where all youth are treasured and families strengthened.” The Community Council has teamed up with various youth-serving and faith-based organizations to produce a series of summer block parties, all of which will be held in the city of Chester. The purpose of these block parties is to connect youth, adults, and faith/community-based organizations by providing an opportunity for residents and service providers to meet and socialize with one another.
The first block party was co-sponsored by the City of Chester’s Weed and Seed Tall Team and was held on June 17 in Highland Gardens. The second block party, a partnership between Siloam United Methodist Church and the Eastside Neighborhood Committee was held on July 29 on 10th & Upland St. Both events were a tremendous success and provided an atmosphere for residents to come out and enjoy themselves while learning about the services that are being offered in their community. If you missed the first two events there are still three more fun-filled block parties awaiting you.
All of the upcoming block parties will be from noon to 5 p.m. The next block parties will be held on:
August 26 at 12th & Tilghman St. This event is co-sponsored by Bethany Baptist Church/Chester Housing Authority.
September 9 at Lighthouse Community Church.
This event is co-sponsored by Lighthouse Community Church.
September 16 at the William Penn Homes. This event is
co-sponsored by Chester Housing Authority.
We invite you to stop by and join us for three afternoons of food, fun and fellowship! Recreational activities include face-painting, arts and crafts, moon bounce, life size characters, and much more. We welcome all informational vendors and volunteers.
