Majestic, Inc. was founded in 1999 and is directed by Ms.Tara Jones-Stephens and Jeffrey Green, former Director of the Imperial Marvellettes of Chester, PA.
The participants from Majestic are adolescents in grades 5-12 within the Chester Upland School District and Charter Schools. Members of the drill team practice at least three days per week for 2 ½ hours, take part in at least one community project per month, and meet weekly for “Girl Talk" or "Guy Talk sessions.
The purpose of the drill team is to enhance self-esteem, develop leadership, and promote cooperative interaction. Members are taught respect for different levels of command, commitment, etiquette, teamwork and other positive attributes that will encourage their learning and growth. During the winter season (school year) members participate in competitions throughout the country with the goal of competing for a National Championship. Each student must maintain at least a 2.5 grade point average; commit to practices; commit to service learning projects; and comply with the rules and regulations set forth.
With the expansion of the drill team, we have initiated a Parent Association to help sustain fundraising endeavors, family relations, overall support, and to promote a holistic approach to helping our children become respectable and responsible citizens.
The drill team is strengthened by its membership in the American Marching Association (AMA), a non-profit organization which guides and governs marching units within its membership. Majestic is aligned with AMA’s goal to actively recruit, empower, and provide a haven for youth, both troubled and untroubled, within communities through the establishment and maintenance of marching units.
