Musicopia is a non-profit organization that brings educational music enrichment programs to schools and communities throughout the Delaware Valley.
Founded in 1974, Musicopia officially changed its name in February 2006 from Strings for Schools, Inc. to Musicopia, Inc. to better represent the diversity and range of their programs and services. Today, its professional musicians from leading Philadelphia ensembles present a full range of classical, jazz, multicultural, and classic popular programs that feature all forms of instrumentation.
Musicopia has grown into “the largest provider of outside music education resources for schools on the East Coast,” according to the Music Performance Fund, and works to reestablish or expand music programs in Delaware Valley schools. Musicopia also engages parents and families in the cultural development of their children through community concerts that celebrate the musical achievements of the local students. Programs are designed to connect schools to their local communities in support of high-quality music education for all students.
Musicopia has been working in Chester for over seven consecutive years and looks forward to rebuilding the Chester Marching Band as the pride of the city.
