The Achievement Project (TAP) is a community-based educational support project. In operation since 2002, TAP works with a small group of Chester High School students throughout the students’ four years of high school. TAP’s mission is to help the participants to succeed in high school and to prepare for, apply to, gain acceptance at and attend college or other institution of higher education. Most TAP activities, with the exception of field trips and recreational outings, occur at Chester Eastside Ministries, an urban mission located in Chester.
TAP is a member of the New Beginnings Nonprofit Incubator at Resources for Human Development, Inc. (RHD). RHD is a large, diversified nonprofit organization based in Philadelphia that oversees roughly 150 programs. The New Beginnings Incubator provides small and startup nonprofit programs with a range of services and support designed to help them grow to achieve their missions. While TAP receives technical assistance and 501(c)3 sponsorship from RHD, the program is responsible for raising its own funds.
