About Radiation Therapy
What is a Radiation Therapist?

The field of radiation therapy is a health science specialty that educates students in the application of ionizing and gamma radiation administered to patients with neoplastic diseases. In order for the student to fully understand the treatment delivery process, knowledge of every aspect of the disease including treatment, simulation, histology, physics and tissue reactions with radiation is important.

What is the local salary range?

According to Salary.com, the average starting base income in the Delaware Valley is approximately $62,500 per year for a full-time position. This does not include a shift differential or over-time pay, which is often available. Hospitals usually offer generous benefit packages to their employees, as well.

Where do they work?

Most radiation therapists work in hospitals; within the hospital, they work with all age groups.
