Under the direction of former University of North Carolina Tar Heel and Conestoga graduate Dewey Burke; we celebrate the 2009 Dewey Burke Skill Development Camp. For our 3rd annual camp, our two simple goals remain the same: First is for the camper to have a positive and enjoyable camp experience. The second goal is to improve as a basketball player.

The way you improve your game is simple; you must get in the gym and put it the time necessary to refine and improve your offensive, defensive and all-around skill sets. The Dewey Burke Skill Development Camp is designed to teach the young player how to improve - on his or her own - in the gym, on the playground, or in the driveway. So often people believe you need someone else with you to get the proper work done or advise playing in as many games as possible to get better. We do not believe either of those claims. This camp will teach many drills and fundamentals you can do by yourself to improve your overall performance.

Campers are exposed to an unmatched resource. A member of the 2007 North Carolina Basketball Team that was the ACC Regular Season and ACC Tournament Champion as well as the #1 seed in the East Regional of the NCAA Tournament, Camp Director Dewey Burke learned a tremendous amount playing for Hall Of Fame coach Roy Williams. As a member of the Carolina Basketball Team and Family for 4 years, the experiences and lessons Burke can impart are invaluable. The drills you will learn come from the workouts Burke did as a member of the Tar Heels, as Williams and fellow Hall of Fame Coach, Dean Smith, taught them. Since graduation, Dewey has worked with all levels of players including: Wayne Ellington, Tyler Hansbrough & Marcus Ginyard (UNC), Chelsea Shine (Univ. of Virginia) & Kristen Johnsen (Davidson).

Make no mistake, this is not your average camp. Campers will work hard for 3 hours each day, and receive excellent instruction they can take with them. This is the camp for the serious player.

“At Dewey Burke Camps, WE WORK!”

Directed by ex-North Carolina player and Conestoga alum Dewey Burke and Conestoga Girls Basketball Head Coach and Widener star, John Jones.

Sky High Basketball Camp will be entering its 9th year in 2009. With camps designed for both boys and girls, the success of our camp is predicated on our staff. We truly believe a camp can only be as good as the people working it. We take pride in the excellence of our counselors and the quality of the instruction we provide. Our staff members are great teachers with strong character and a sincere interest in helping young players learn the greatest game ever invented!

The Sky High Basketball Camp is an instructional camp designed to reinforce the fundamentals of the game with an emphasis on improving individual skills. Particular emphasis will be placed on individual defense, individual offense, shooting technique, and team strategy. Campers thrive in our friendly environment. Through specific feedback and individual attention, campers benefit from our talented and enthusiastic staff.

Year after year, Sky High has hosted the best guest speakers a camp could provide.  Last year we had 4 NCAA Basketball stars visit with our campers. Dante Cunningham and Dwayne Anderson from 2009 Final 4 team Villanova. We also hosted Bobby Frasor and Tyler Hansbrough from the 2009 NCAA National Champion North Carolina Tar Heels. Hansbrough was the 2008 National Player of the Year and is a 4-time All-American. All our campers were very fortunate to learn from such accomplished players.

Above all else, parents can be confident that their child is having a great time in a safe, caring and controlled environment. Our camper to staff ratio averages 8:1, and we are certain to be attentive to each camper’s needs.
