Crozer-Keystone Health System recently promoted Havertown resident James Gallagher, general manager of the Healthplex® Sports Club, to president of the club.
Gallagher, an employee at the club since its opening in 1996, first worked there as a personal trainer. Gallagher also briefly served as wellness coordinator for the club, before assuming the role of general manager in 1999.
Gallagher has a background in education, earning both his B.S. in special education/elementary education and his M.S. in special education from Millersville University. Gallagher later received his M.S. in exercise physiology from Temple University.
“Jim has been an integral part of the Healthplex® Sports Club’s success since its opening,” says Joan K. Richards, president and chief executive officer of Crozer-Keystone Health System. “He is a valued member of the Crozer-Keystone team and in his new role will continue his commitment to providing an excellent wellness and fitness resource to the community.”
The HealthplexÒ Sports Club is the premier sports club in the region, offering a variety of health, fitness and wellness programs. Under Gallagher’s leadership, the club has initiated many new programs and services, including the Spa at the Healthplex®, a full-service spa and salon located on the ground floor of the club, and Healthy Inspirations, a comprehensive weight-loss lifestyle program. The club has also participated in a number of community programs, including the Asthma Day Camp, a sports camp designed for asthmatic children and teens which combines fitness with daily asthma education, and the Healthy Hoops challenge, an innovative community-based program that combines asthma education and basketball targeting children with asthma from Chester and Philadelphia.
Under Gallagher’s guidance, the HealthplexÒ Sports Club was also recently voted the fittest business by readers of PhillyFit Magazine for its annual Spring 2007 “Best of” issue.
“I am honored to be named president of the Healthplex® Sports Club,” says Gallagher. “The club – from its first-class facilities to its dedicated staff – exemplifies the health system’s commitment to wellness and health, and I am proud to continue my leadership role both at the club and within the system.”
