The Healthplex® Sports Club offers a range of aquatic classes for participants of all ages. Our classes range from high-intensity cardiovascular workouts to strength and conditioning classes to relaxation classes.

Water exercise is great for overall toning as well as increased flexibility and energy. The natural resistance of water adds another dimension to health by lowering resting pulse and blood pressure and improving balance.

For registration information and a current listing of exact times, locations and costs for these programs, pick up a schedule at the Service Desk or go to Aquatic Classes to download and print a schedule.

Program Descriptions

Aqua Aerobics

This class offers aerobic training with variations in impact and is suitable for participants of many fitness levels. The use of buoyant equipment and plyometric (explosive) movements maximizes the effects of water resistance to provide cardiovascular, endurance and strength conditioning.

Aqua Arthritis

This class incorporates head-to-toe stretching exercises and movements in order to preserve and restore flexibility and strength. It can help to improve coordination, balance and can increase overall mobility.

Aqua Cardio Pilates

This low-impact workout of variable intensity focuses on strength and flexibility using movements and poses inspired by the popular Pilates mat program. It includes intervals of cardiovascular conditioning and Pilates type strength training, followed by a 15-minute energizing stretch.

Aqua Easy

This low-impact, total body conditioning program targets beginners and those who are moving on after physical therapy and aqua arthritis. Its combination of aerobic, strengthening and stretching exercises can offer both comfort and challenge to participants of all fitness levels.

Aqua Mom

This is a low-impact program for pre- and post-natal mothers that includes cardiovascular conditioning, core strengthening, and targeted stretching exercises. The warm water provides a safe and effective format for increasing blood flow through the lower extremities, enhancing balancing and lifting abilities, and developing greater strength and flexibility.

Aqua Push

This class is held in the lap pool and tones both upper and lower body using techniques such as plyometric (explosive) exercises designed to build lean body mass and assist fat burning.

Aqua Yoga

This class combines the soothing qualities of warm water with the basic elements of yoga. Using gentle isometric exercises that promote strength and power as well as flexibility and stress reduction, it offers an ultimate pairing of dynamic and static stretching.

Aqua Fibromyalgia

By taking advantage of the therapeutic properties of warm water, this class helps to increase range of motion and muscle relaxation and to decrease chronic pain and other physical discomforts.
