The Interventional Pain Management practice was founded in 2001 at Crozer-Chester Medical Center to help patients with chronic pain that does not respond to conventional treatments such as heat or ice, rest, and anti-inflammatory medications. All of the practice’s physicians have completed fellowship training in pain management.
The practice’s primary goal is to improve people’s quality of life. The physicians evaluate patients of all ages who have chronic pain due to spinal degeneration, other back problems, nerve disorders, or unknown causes, and then work closely with them to develop a treatment plan. Whenever possible, they avoid medications, which are costly and can cause problematic side effects, and instead rely on procedures that block the pain at its source. These include epidural steroid injections, facet joint injections, sacroiliac joint injections, lumbar discography, spinal cord stimulation, percutaneous disc decompression, radiofrequency ablation, and nerve blocks. State-of-the-art technology and X-ray guidance are used to ensure the safety and accuracy of these procedures.
The physicians are excited to be able to bring this highly specialized service, which is more typically found at academic medical centers, to the communities of western Delaware County and Chester County. They look forward to serving area residents’ needs and to working with the other medical specialists at the Crozer Medical Plaza who may need pain management services for their patients.
"Pain specialists are still pretty hard to find in this area. We are happy to be able to offer patients state-of-the-art pain management without making them drive into Philadelphia, pay for parking, disrupt their entire day, and so forth. With us they also will get the benefit of working with fellowship-trained specialists using the latest technology and offering the newest procedures." Catherine DiGregorio, M.D.
