Wellness and Development Programs for Children
Crozer-Chester Medical Center provides a strong foundation for the health, wellness, and social and educational development of all children throughout the greater Delaware County through its award-winning outreach programs.
Kids' Asthma Management Program (K.A.M.P.) -
A HAP (Hospital and Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania) award-winning program, K.A.M.P. provides school-based asthma detection and management services to children in the Chester-Upland School District. Through this program, children receive medical care and monitoring, access to appropriate asthma medications, patient and family education, and tools for asthma management.
ChesPenn Health Services
ChesPenn Health Services consists of federally funded community health centers providing medical and dental services to adult and pediatric patients in the greater Chester community. ChesPenn also offers pediatric immunizations, blood-lead testing, and vision and hearing screenings.
Crozer-Keystone Healthy Start
Crozer-Keystone Healthy Start is a free program for pregnant women and the parents, families and caregivers of children under two years of age funded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Through this program, prenatal care, health and social service guidance and counseling are provided to underserved pregnant women and families throughout Chester and its surrounding communities. Healthy Start also provides education regarding immunizations, well-child visits, and other early pediatric interventions.
The Wellness Center at Smedley Middle School
The Wellness Center is the first and only school-based health care clinic in Delaware County, created through a partnership between Crozer-Chester Medical Center and the Chester-Upland School District. The Wellness Center is open year-round - even during summer vacation - and is available for children and adolescents from the ages of five to 21, regardless of where they live or go to school. The mission of the Wellness Center is to improve the health of children and adolescents in the community by providing convenient, on-site quality health care and health promotion programs throughout the school district.
Youth Development Programs at The Wellness Center
Funded by federal and local agencies, the Wellness Center's Youth Development Programs are facilitated by the staff of the Wellness Center from their Smedley Middle School offices. The programs promote leadership development and positive role models as a means of reducing health risk behaviors among teens. The Wellness Center's programs annually serve over 1,500 adolescents between the ages of 12-18 in the Chester-Upland School District.
Student Health Screening Initiative at Ridley Park and Chester-Upland School Districts
The Student Health Screening Initiative is a unique collaboration between Crozer-Chester Medical Center and the Ridley Park and Chester-Upland School Districts. Through the program, students throughout both districts are eligible to receive health screenings, annual school physicals and vaccinations. Crozer physicians work with school nurses throughout the two districts to facilitate the program and develop student treatment protocols.
